For Adolescents

Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS)

The SPARCS program aims to help traumatized adolescents ages 12-21 suffering from chronic stress build on their strengths and resilience.  The curriculum aims to set in motion adolescents’ ability to make better choices for their lives by helping them identify what gives their lives purpose and meaning and cultivate healthy relationships.

The treatment for SPARCS is delivered individually in the Mental Health clinic and also as a group at an area school.  SPARCS individual consists of 17 60-minute sessions, and SPARCS group consists of 16 50-minute sessions.  Each group includes 10-12 members.

The California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare gives SPARCS a relevance level of High. For more information regarding the rating system used by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare click here.
